§ 88. Mr. H. Hyndasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the discrepancy between increases in the price of coffee in Kenya and increases in the rates of pay of African workers on plantations, he will appoint the Commissioner of Labour, the trade union advisory officer or some other qualified person as chairman of the annual meeting at which wages are negotiated.
§ Mr. LytteltonAn appointment of this kind is a matter for the Governor who would, I am confident, appoint a member of the Labour Department as Chairman of this meeting instead of the District Commissioner if he felt that there was advantage in such an arrangement.
