Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department to what extent expenditure is being incurred during the current year on the provision of deep air-raid shelters; and to what extent plans for such shelters will enable them to be used as underground garages in all cases where they are being provided in areas where more garage space and parking accommodation for cars is desirable.
§ Sir D. Maxwell FyfeThe only current expenditure of the kind mentioned by the hon. Member is in respect of the maintenance of certain places which were used as shelter in the last war. They would not be suitable for use as garages.
