Mr. Rentonasked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he is aware that there are a large number of people and businesses in Huntingdon and the surrounding district who have for several years been waiting to be connected with the telephone; what steps are being taken to provide adequate facilities at the Huntingdon exchange; and when those steps will be completed.
§ Mr. GammansI recognise the difficulties and am sorry that we cannot meet all applications. Additional plant will be provided next year at Huntingdon and other places in the district, but so long as the present heavy restrictions on our resources continues I cannot say when the waiting list is likely to be cleared.
