HC Deb 09 July 1952 vol 503 cc92-3W
65. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies approximately the number of persons who have left the Colonies and protectorates during 1951 for the United Kingdom and foreign countries respectively; and what steps have been taken by colonial Governments in consultation with Her Majesty's Government in respect of colonial immigration into this country.

Mr. Lyttelton

No figures are available in London and I doubt whether colonial Governments keep statistics from which the information could be provided.

As regards the second part of the Question, colonial Governments have been asked to see that, whenever possible, intending immigrants to this country are warned about the difficulties of obtaining accommodation and employment.
