HL Deb 01 July 1952 vol 177 c588WA
LORD SELSDON

asked Her Majesty's Government, in the interests of road safety, what steps they are taking to ensure that the approaches to "zebra" crossings are of a suitably approved non-skid surface for a minimum distance of fifty yards.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE CO-ORDINATION OF TRANSPORT, FUEL AND POWER (LORD LEATHERS)

My right honourable friend and highway authorities generally are doing their best to provide non-skid surfaces everywhere as rapidly as economic circumstances permit. Her Majesty's Government are of opinion that they would not be justified in singling out the approaches to "zebra" crossings for special treatment.

House adjourned at twelve minutes past six o'clock.
