§ 94. Brigadier Medlicott
asked the Minister of Education the anticipated cost of opening Apsley House as a national museum; and what amount it is estimated would be obtained by way of revenue if a reasonable charge for admission were made.
§ Miss Horsbrugh
The cost of opening Apsley House as a national museum is expected to be approximately £9,000 per annum. It is proposed that the charge for admission shall be 1s. per head. The number of visitors cannot be forecast 183W with any accuracy, but it would require an attendance of 180,000 visitors per year, or about 3,460 per week, to make the opening of the house a self-supporting venture.
