HC Deb 21 February 1952 vol 496 c67W
142. Mr. Awbery

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take action to make it a legal obligation on all garage proprietors to notify the local authority of any change of ownership or any alteration in the construction of a garage or petrol storage place.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

Under the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act, 1928, local licensing authorities are empowered to attach to any licence which they may grant, conditions as to the safe keeping of petroleum spirit. I am advised that such conditions could include requirements of the kind to which the hon. Member refers.
