HC Deb 21 February 1952 vol 496 c45W
70. Captain Soames

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is satisfied that the weekly return, Form No. C190/S.S.Y., required to be completed by millers and corn merchants under the Corn Returns Act, 1882, still serves a useful purpose; and whether, in order to save time, labour and paper he will take steps to dispense with these returns.

Sir T. Dugdale

I cannot take the action suggested without repeal or amendment of the Corn Returns Act, 1882. The number of markets from which information is required was reduced substantially in 1944, and I should be quite willing to consider any other ways of simplifying the procedure that were compatible with the Act.
