HC Deb 04 February 1952 vol 495 c76W
78. Mr. Baird

asked the Minister of Transport when authority will be granted to carry out the urgent road repairs necessary at Three Tuns Lane, Stafford Road, Wolverhampton.

Mr. Maclay

Ordinary road repairs do not require my specific authorisation, but I assume that the hon. Member is referring to a widening scheme now under consideration. As soon as this is submitted with application for grant, it will be sympathetically considered, but I cannot anticipate the result at the moment.

87. Mr. Baker White

asked the Minister of Transport the cost per mile of the work now taking place on the main London—Canterbury road between the top of Charing Hill and Molash designed to smooth off the verges of the road; what quantity of steel per mile is being used; and what is the cost of the steel per mile.

Mr. Maclay

This work which is being carried out by the Kent County Council is costing about £8,000 per mile and involves no consumption of steel.
