HC Deb 04 February 1952 vol 495 c82W
93. Lieut.-Commander Thompson

asked the Minister of Supply what steps he is taking to ensure that small firms throughout the country receive their fair share of contracts in connection with the rearmament programme.

Mr. Sandys

Firms on the Ministry of Supply trades lists, whatever their size, have an equal opportunity of tendering for direct contracts. Any firm can apply to be included in the Ministry's lists, but normally the capacity of small firms is more suitable for sub-contract work. The Ministry's regional controllers keep records of firms suitable for such subcontract work and this information is made available to main contractors seeking sub-contract capacity.
