§ 144. Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamiltonasked the Minister of Food whether, in view of his statement made on 24th June in connection with the avoidance of cruelty in the transport of horses, he will ensure that in the Government inquiry on the slaughter of horses which is now taking place, the transit of horses comes within the scope of the inquiry.
Dr. HillNo. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture has made Orders to protect animals from unnecessary suffering during transit and he has stated in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Yeovil (Mr. Peyton) on 4th December he is satisfied that these Orders are being enforced.
