§ 59. Dr. Strossasked the Secretary of State for War how many mass radiography units are now available for the 21W examination of serving men and recruits; and how many men, per 10,000 examined, are found to be suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis.
§ Mr. HeadThe majority of recruits and National Service men are examined by Ministry of Health units before entry. The Army uses nine teams to examine men where this has not already been done. During the first nine months of this year the Army teams found that in each 10,000 examined 13 had signs of healed tuberculosis and 6.6 signs of active tuberculosis.
