§ 74. Mr. McAddenasked the Secretary of State for War to make a statement on the employment of South Koreans in the British Commonwealth Division in Korea.
§ Mr. HeadThe United Kingdom Government have received a proposal from the Commander-in-Chief, British Commonwealth Forces, Korea, that 1,000 Korean troops should be integrated into infantry units of the First Commonwealth Division with United Nations Forces in Korea.
The United Kingdom Government have been in consultation with the other Commonwealth Governments concerned and there is agreement that, subject to settlement of detailed financial arrangements, the proposal should be approved. The reinforcement of the Commonwealth Division by South Korean troops will not affect the strength of British troops in Korea though it will allow them to be rested and relieved more frequently.
