HC Deb 05 December 1952 vol 508 c187W
Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many individuals have graduated from the main universities in the United Kingdom since 1932; and how many of these took first and second-class honours, respectively.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The number of degrees obtained by internal students of university institutions in Great Britain during the academic years 1931–32 to 1938–39 and 1945–46 to 1951–52 was:

Honours Degrees 106,369
Ordinary Degrees 76,770
Total 183,139

I regret that figures for degrees obtained during the war, and separate figures for first and second-class honours, are not available.
