HC Deb 04 December 1952 vol 508 c177W
103. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Minister of Education why Her Majesty's Government has cut its subscriptions to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation; and whether she will make a statement regarding the future policy of the Government towards this body.

Miss Horsbrugh

There has been no such cut: the annual contribution of the United Kingdom to the budget at present approved by the General Conference of U.N.E.S.C.O. for 1953 and 1954 would exceed the contribution made for 1952. The fact that the United Kingdom delegation voted for a smaller budget than that recommended by the Director General does not indicate any change of policy.
