asked the Minister of Labour the number of adult males and females and junior males and females, respectively, unemployed in the North-East Coast Development Area; and what the prospects are in this area regarding further employment.

On 13th October, 1952, the numbers registered as unemployed in the North-East Coast Development Area were 15,011 men, 10,179 women, 534 boys and 1,084 girls, making a total of 26,808. A number of new factories and extensions are in course of construction in the area and additional employment opportunities will arise when these have been completed.
