§ 66. Sir W. Wakefield
asked the Minister of Labour why the grants to the National Services Hostels Corporation Limited, increased from £995,000 in 1951–52 to £1,250,000 in 1952–53.
§ Sir W. Monckton
The increased Estimate of £1,240,000 for 1952–53 made provision for accommodating an additional number of workers transferred to meet the needs of the defence programme and for meeting any unavoidable increases in running costs which would not be wholly covered by increased charges to residents.
