111. Mr. Russell

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that stilettos, imported from Italy as paperknives, as being labelled in some shops with attractive tickets describing them as Italian stilettos; and if he will take steps to prevent this contravention of the object for which the imports are allowed.

These articles are imported under the General Quota for Stationery and I am satisfied that no offence under the Import, Export and Customs Powers (Defence) Act, 1939, or the Merchandise Marks Act, 1887, is committed in the circumstances described by my hon. Friend.
