§ 1. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Attorney-General if he is aware of the prevailing uncertainty regarding the definition of what constitutes a charity in law; and if he will introduce legislation to clarify and widen the legal definition.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe definition of a charity was one of the questions considered by the Committee under the chairmanship of Lord Nathan which was appointed to inquire into the law relating to charitable trusts. The Report of that Committee is now being considered and it is hoped to make a statement about it shortly.
