§ Mr. Powellasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will make a statement on the progress of the revaluation of dwelling-houses for rating.
§ Mr. H. MacmillanDifficulties have been encountered in assessing dwelling-houses in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1948, and it has become clear to the Government that Parliament will, in due course, have to be asked to amend these provisions. It is intended that the basis should still be pre-war value. Valuation staff will shortly be employed on preliminary work to enable the Government to formulate proposals.
