§ 65. Mr. D. Jonesasked the Secretary of State for War how far it is still necessary for a soldier, serving on an overseas engagement, to seek the permission of his commanding officer before writing to the Member of Parliament in whose constituency his home is located about what he considers a grievance in regard to his engagement or circumstances of his work.
§ Mr. HeadIt is usually best both for the man and his unit if in military matters a complaint is made initially in the manner prescribed in Section 43 of the Army Act, and his attention is drawn64W to this fact. Even so, nothing is done to prevent a soldier writing to his Member of Parliament on any matter.
