§ 85. Mr. Mulleyasked the Minister of Education what proportion of the item, Grants to Local Education Authorities in her Department's Estimates for 1952–53, it is anticipated will be spent on students' awards.
§ Miss HorsbrughI cannot give the figure asked for, but the hon. Member will see from the table on page 6 of the Memorandum on my Department's Estimates that I have assumed an increase of £2.7 million in the grant-earning expenditure of authorities on "Aid to Pupils" in 1952–53 and the bulk of this increase is attributable to increased expenditure on awards to students who have left school.
