HC Deb 27 November 1951 vol 494 c134W
107. Mr. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state the waiting lists of patients for surgical eye treatment at Kilmarnock Infirmary and Ayr County Hospital; the number of beds available for such treatment; and the average waiting time.

Mr. J. Stuart

One hundred and twelve adult patients are on the common waiting list for the three Ayrshire hospitals which take surgical eye cases. The number of beds normally set aside are Kilmarnock Infirmary 1 (for emergency), Ayr County Hospital 6 and Ballochmyle Hospital 6. There are also four beds for children at Seafield Hospital, Ayr, which has a waiting list of 74 child patients.

Patients requiring treatment urgently are accepted at once. For most other patients I am informed that the usual waiting time is at present about one year.
