HC Deb 22 November 1951 vol 494 c92W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Pensions when he received the approach from the British Legion for increased disability pensions; what reply he has sent; and how much would it cost to accede to their demands.

Mr. Heathcoat Amory

I assume the hon. Member refers to the pamphlet recently issued by the British Legion, a copy of which has been received by me. No reply has been sent. It is estimated that the cost of meeting the British Legion's demands for the basic rate of disability pensions to be increased by 45s. a week would be about £32 million a year.
