§ Captain Bullockasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will increase both the total sum allowed to be invested in the Post Office Savings Bank and the annual limit.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterA draft Order, presented on 9th November, provides for the raising of the aggregate limit upon deposits in the Post Office Savings Bank and the Trustee Savings Banks from £2,000 to £3,000. The Order cannot be made until it has lain before Parliament for 40 days. I consider that the present annual limit of £500 is adequate, having regard to the fact that the savings banks are intended primarily for the small saver.
