HC Deb 20 November 1951 vol 494 cc20-1W
65. Mr. Houghton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he is taking to prevent the Ministerial Salaries Act, 1946, applying to those Ministers who, by reason of the recent reduction of salaries, are now receiving less than £5,000 per annum.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I am advised that it is far from clear that the Ministerial Salaries Act, 1946, can be interpreted as the hon. Member suggests. But I can assure him that none of the Ministers concerned intends to ask for any salary or allowance as a Member of the House of Commons.
