HC Deb 19 November 1951 vol 494 cc14-5W
Mr. de Freitas

asked the Secretary of State for War how far the officers and men of the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment at present in the Canal Zone have received their full basic training and have been instructed in the use of the weapons with which they are equipped.

Mr. Head

The officers and men of this battalion have received their full basic training. The unit, with the exception of the anti-tank platoon, which has only recently been equipped with 17-pounder guns, is considered to be fully trained in the use of all weapons.

It will, however, be realised that some men drafted to the unit after basic training are then selected for further training in specialist weapons: this specialist training is completed as soon as possible.
