HC Deb 13 November 1951 vol 493 cc35-6W
Mr. Hylton-Foster

asked the Minister of Health if he will review the amount which a local authority is required to assume will be needed for their personal requirements by persons liable to pay for accommodation provided under Part III of the National Assistance Act, 1948, so that in appropriate cases such persons may benefit from the increased rates of retirement pensions now payable.

Mr. Crookshank:

My hon. and learned Friend's suggestion would substantially increase the charges falling on public funds and it would not be right for me to hold out hope that this might be possible at the present time.
