asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will now allow the continuation of the Newcastle County Borough Council's five-year scheme to enable the pre-war housing estates and other property to be supplied with electricity.

Mr. H. Macmillan:

Work is proceeding on 773 houses, but I am informed that the North-Eastern Electricity Board are at present unable to do more owing to the limited resources available.
