asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement about the negotiations in Berne in regard to the liquidated German assets held in Switzerland.

These negotiations are proceeding. Since they are not concluded, and since the Governments of the United States, France and Switzerland are parties to them, I regret that it is not possible for me to make a more detailed statement at present.
