HC Deb 10 May 1951 vol 487 cc253-4W
79. Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister of Health how many pay beds under Section 5 of the National Health Service Act, 1946, there are in hospitals under his control; how many cases are now waiting for admission to such beds; and what is the approximate average period of waiting.

Mr. Marquand

The number of beds is 6,875, and the waiting list was 1,190 at 31st December, 1950. The average period of waiting is not known, but in any case an average would have little significance.
