§ Mr. StracheyDuring the last forty years about 650 acres of trees have been planted on Salisbury Plain, roughly 400 acres for amenity and 250 acres to improve training. A number of trees had to be cut down when the aerodromes at Netheravon and Upavon were laid out and others, in areas used for training, were destroyed by firing. Of the 650 acres, some 500 acres remain planted with trees.
