HC Deb 03 May 1951 vol 487 c156W
68. Mr. Vane

asked the President of the Board of Trade what has been established by the researches made by his Department as to the relative suitability of protein fibre made from monkey nuts and fibre made from wood as material to blend with wool for clothing.

Sir H. Shawcross

The researches to which the hon. Member refers are being conducted, not by the Board of Trade, but by the industries concerned. The use of materials made from ground-nut fibre is still at an early stage, and I should not care to express any view about the relative suitability of this and other fibres for particular purposes.
