HC Deb 20 March 1951 vol 485 c276W
Mr. Hopkinson

asked the Minister of Food whether, in view of the present inadequate meat ration, he will consider making arrangements to enable schoolchildren, during the holidays, to obtain the equivalent of the meat which they receive at school dinners in addition to their ordinary ration.

Mr. Webb

I am afraid that special temporary rationing arrangements of this sort would not be practicable. I understand that some local authorities do provide school meals during holidays where they think that the demand is sufficient to justify it.
