HC Deb 20 March 1951 vol 485 c271W
138. Mr. Edelman

asked the Minister of Supply whether his attention has been drawn to the notice of dismissal from their employment to several hundred workers in the motor industry owing to a shortage of sheet steel; and what action he will take to maintain full employment in that industry.

Mr. J. Freeman

Yes. Every effort is being made to obtain sheet steel from abroad, but I am afraid that some reduction of supplies to the motor industry cannot be avoided until home production increases.
