HC Deb 20 March 1951 vol 485 cc261-2W
108. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how far it is intended that experiments should be carried out in Scotland in the spreading of lime or fertilisers over hill pastures from the air.

Mr. McNeil

Experiments are at present being conducted to ascertain the precise effects on different types of hill land of the application of lime and fertilisers at different rates. The Hill Farm Research Committee are also observing closely commercial operators in this field in both New Zealand and Wales. When these observations have been completed, the subject of liming by aircraft will be further considered.
