HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 cc148-9W
126. Major Beamish

asked the Minister of Works what is the explanation of the ghost voices which are transmitted from the Chamber and from Committee Rooms to other rooms in the House of Commons building; and what alterations would be necessary in order to remedy these defects.

Mr. Stokes

The voices from the Chamber were transmitted from the loud speaker in the annunciator room through an open window and into the windows above. This loud speaker will not in future be used. Voices from the Committee Room to other rooms are being transmitted through the partitions of the rooms and measures to remedy this are being investigated.
