HC Deb 13 March 1951 vol 485 c150W
134. Mr. Arbuthnot

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been drawn to the new French train ferry service on the Dover—Dunkirk run; and what steps he is taking, in conjunction with the Minister of Transport, to avoid the consequent unemployment among local seamen.

Mr. Lee

I understand from my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport that increased traffic requirements warrant the new service to which the hon. Member refers. The service is additional to those already provided and no question of consequent unemployment among local seamen will therefore arise.
