Mr. T. WilliamsThe total area of land in use as allotments within the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne is 246 acres. Most of the sites are administered by local allotment associations who are responsible for letting the individual plots, and I am unable therefore to say how many applicants are waiting for allotments.
The area of land to be allocated for use as allotments in future years is a matter to be dealt with in the development plan for the City. The plan has not been completed, but I understand the Corporation are considering the possibility of increasing the total area of land available for allotments.
