§ 103. Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Transport what experiments are being made on buses with power operated doors; whether they have proved successful; and whether they are likely to be extended.
§ Mr. BarnesPower operated doors have been in use for a number of years and they are at present on trial in Glasgow. Their use on trolley buses in Reading has been followed by a considerable reduction in accidents to passengers while boarding and alighting. The question of fitting doors is one for the operator concerned, and they are not suitable for all types of service, but I am keeping the possibilities of this device under review.
