§ 25. Mrs. Braddockasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the unsatisfactory condition of the stokeholds on the troopship "Empress of Australia"; that the ship is 39 years old; that it is not fit for the Far East run; and 176W if he will take steps to take the vessel off this run.
§ Mr. BarnesNo complaint regarding the stokeholds of this ship has been brought to my notice. I cannot agree that she is unfit for the Far East run, but she is normally employed between this country and Port Said and has only made two Far East voyages since the beginning of 1949.
