Browneasked the Minister of Health the number of residences provided by local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales under section 21 (1) (a) of Part III of the National Assistance 196W Act, 1948; the number of persons accommodated in these residences, excluding staff; and the number of local authorities concerned.
§ Mr. MarquandAt 1st January, 1951, there were in England and Wales 718 residences accommodating 47,494 persons provided by 146 local authorities. For information relating to Scotland I would refer the hon. Member to the Secretary of State.
