§ Mr. P. Noel-BakerI am satisfied that the electricity boards are maintaining the declared frequency and voltage of supply so far as is possible in the present circumstances. The hon. Member will, however, appreciate that a temporary small percentage reduction of frequency and voltage at times of peak load, when the70W demand exceeds the present available generating capacity, is an expedient which frequently enables the boards to avoid load-shedding. Most consumers no doubt would prefer to accept any inconvenience which this may cause rather than have their supply cut off altogether.
