§ 66. Mr. Dodds-Parkerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish figures to show where the reductions in Government expenditure, announced at the time of devaluation in September, 1949, became effective in the financial year 1950–51.
§ Mr. JayAs my right hon. Friend's predecessor explained in his Budget speech, the economies of the autumn of 1949 were taken into account in the Estimates for 1950–51 which would have been that much higher but for those economies. No proper comparison between the Estimates and the actual expenditure of the year 1950–51 is possible until the end of the financial year.
