HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 cc259-60W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps he is taking to negotiate with the British Transport Commission for a reduction of the rates on home-grown farm produce in view of the fact that the agricultural industry is so heavy a user of rail transport and that the recent increases of rates will damage home production.

Mr. T. Williams

I do not think it would be appropriate for me to take action on the lines indicated. The Transport Act, 1947, provides adequate machinery for negotiation.
