§ Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will direct that all imprisoned Eritrean Shifta, who have committed non-violent offences solely with political motive, be now released, in view of the decision of the United Nations respecting the future of Eritrea.
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesI have examined this matter carefully and I am satisfied that all Shifta serving prison sentences in Eritrea have been convicted of violent offences.
