HC Deb 15 February 1951 vol 484 cc99-100W
Brigadier Smyth

asked the Minister of Health if he will give fresh consideration to the question of a new tuberculosis clinic in the Brixton area of Lambeth in view of the fact that his proposed decision to move the old Effra Road tuberculosis clinic to Dulwich will mean a serious loss of amenity to South Lambeth, where tuberculosis is already of alarming proportions and its incidence is steadily increasing.

Mr. Marquand

No. The existing premises are unsatisfactory and the facilities at St. Francis Hospital which is little over a mile away will be excellent. There should be no hardship to patients resident in South Lambeth. I cannot agree that tuberculosis is increasing in Lambeth. Statistics show a decrease in 1950.
