§ Mr. J. P. W. Mallalieu
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that since 1940 there has been a shortage of cigarettes in Huddersfield; and whether he will publish a table showing how supplies to this area compare with those to other areas with a comparable population.
Mr. H. Wilson
The Government does not control the distribution of cigarettes; I therefore regret that I cannot provide the statistical information my hon. Friend is seeking. I have no reason to suppose 235W that Huddersfield is worse off than a number of other comparable areas, but I will bring the matter to the attention of the principal suppliers.
