§ 67. Mr. Chapmanasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the effect on the school building programme of the Government's decision to reduce new building and of the shortages of places which this will cause for children, particularly at the beginning and the end of school life, he will cause a general review to be made of the effects of building economies on the social services.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI do not accept the implication in this Question that any decision of the Government will have the effect alleged. The needs of the social services for new buildings are examined each year as pan of the general review of the building programme as a whole, and such a review is now in progress.
