HC Deb 03 December 1951 vol 494 c185W
104. Mr. Houghton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he proposes to begin the statutory review of the working of the National Insurance Acts.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Section 39 of the National Insurance Act, 1946, provides for a comprehensive review of the National Insurance Scheme as at 31st March, 1954, and quinquennially thereafter and an interim report in any year when there is no comprehensive review. The first interim report for the period 4th July, 1948, to 31st March, 1950, was published in February this year. It is hoped to publish the second interim report for 1st April, 1950, to 31st March, 1951, early in the New Year.
